Cyclone Tauktae LIVE: Landfall process has begun in Gujarat, says IMD

Cyclone Tauktae Live updates: A very significant cyclonic storm ‘Tauktae’ with winds gusting up to 185 km for each hour started making landfall on the Gujarat coast on Monday night, right after dumping weighty rains in Mumbai, forcing the evacuation of above one hundred fifty,000 people today in Gujarat and leaving two barges with 410 people today on board adrift in the Arabian Sea.
As a precuationary measure, major airports in the state shutdown operations until Tuesday.
Meanwhile, extra than 55 flights, both incoming and outbound, had been cancelled at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Global Airport (CSMIA) on Monday right after the personal airport operator was compelled to suspend all air companies at 11 am due to cyclone ‘Tauktae’. These cancellations apart, some 7 incoming flights had been also diverted to different airports. The CSMIA for the fourth time in the day prolonged the closure of operations until 10 pm right after initial saying that the airport will remain closed for three several hours, commencing 11 am.
