DFPD issues uniform specifications for procurement of fortified rice stocks

The Section of Food stuff and Community Distribution (DFPD), under the Buyer Affairs Ministry, reported it has issued uniform specs for fortified rice kernels for Quality A and common rice for procurement of fortified rice stocks.

It reported that one per cent of fortified rice kernels should be blended with regular rice stocks. The Ministry reported that uniform specs of food stuff grains for Central Pool procurement for the ensuing Kharif Marketing and advertising year (KMS) 2020-21 has also been issued.

“These specs as per standard follow have been issued in regard of Paddy, Rice and other coarse grains namely Jowar, Bajra, Maize, Ragi. These specs also include things like criteria of rice for problem to States/Union Territories for distribution under targeted public distribution scheme and other welfare techniques dependent on the uniform specs of rice for kharif advertising year,” an formal statement extra.

“All States/Union Territories and Food stuff Corporation of India (FCI) have been encouraged that the procurement during KMS 2020-21 might be strictly in accordance with the uniform specs,” the statement extra.

The Central government has pre-poned the kharif procurement period from September 26 in Haryana and Punjab and for other States from September 28.

The FCI and States Procurement Companies have been directed to ensure trouble free of charge procurement and Minimum amount Support Selling price (MSP) payments to farmers, the Condition extra.
