Food Secretary meets state govt officials on disclosure norms for edible oils

In a bid to examine on unfair techniques and to carry transparency in the availability of edible oils, Secretary Foodstuff and Public Distribution on Friday experienced a virtual assembly with condition governing administration officers on the new inventory disclosure norms.

The Central governing administration has requested states to immediate stockists, traders, wholesalers, refiners to make declarations about their stocks of edible oils and oilseeds for greater checking and to discourage unfair techniques and hoarding. The governing administration thinks this will also carry transparency in the availability of edible oils.

In a statement, Foodstuff Secretary Sudhanshu Pandey mentioned that the production of oilseeds is anticipated to boost in the coming Rabi time. This is also anticipated to carry down the charges of edible oils

“Stockists and millers are now anticipated to disclose the inventory of edible oilseeds and oils and post the facts on a portal for transparency and greater checking.

Stockists and Millers would also will need to display the charges of edible oil at the premises,” an formal statement added.
